There are an estimated 27 million people enslaved at this very moment. Slavery is more prevalent today than at any other time in history. Forced-labor and sex trafficking are illegal, but these crimes are too often overlooked. UNICEF estimates that nearly 2 million children are exploited in the global commercial sex trade. The U.N. Development Fund for Women estimates 1 in 5 women is a victim of rape or attempted rape in her lifetime. This violence against the poor and vulnerable must stop.
Thanks to a generous grant from Google, International Justice Mission, Polaris Project, and Made In A Free World formed a coalition to help educate, inspire, and engage the American public around this issue. Made In A Free World produced this three part video campaign to galvanize an ever growing number of concerned citizens.
We all think we would stand on the winning side of history. Be Here Now gives viewers a chance to feel what that would have looked like through dynamic archival and recreated footage of great moments in time. Viewers are given the opportunity to insert their images into this footage and share the videos with friends. Be Here Now also provides viewers with an opportunity to participate in the fight against modern-day slavery by taking an action with one or all of the coalition partner groups.
