Mothers are the best weapons against the sexual exploitation of children was the message from the organizers of the Mothers Against Trafficking, a division of the Central Minnesota Human Trafficking Task Force.
The task force is monitoring nine local victims who have been forced into prostitution, said Gracemarie Tellone Brown, founder of the nonprofit Gracemarie’s Song. The task force is a branch of the organization.
Group members believe mothers are necessary to solve this problem. Organizers set up a telephone tree of mothers to help support efforts against human trafficking. Officials might not listen to a small group of people, but no one can deny a large group of angry mothers, Jim Rothstein, a task force board member, said. “We can stop this,” he said. “You can do this.”
