Foster Care and Sex Trafficking

The House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Human Resources held a hearing on foster care kids who become involved in sex trafficking. Witnesses included several members of Congress who have introduced anti-sex trafficking legislation, and a panel of activists that included a victim. Among the issues addressed were creating collaborative relationships between victims and at-risk youth and sex-trafficking survivors and community members; child welfare staff training; the lack of steady relationships in the lives of foster care children; and the terminology used to identify victims.
